Local Firm Scoops Prestigious Award CWA in Glenfield are behind an award winning CD produced for Biffa Waste Services, which is to be used by schools nationwide. The ‘Interactive Challenge’ CD is being used in schools to raise awareness about waste and recycling issues and to encourage children and their parents to gain a better understanding of waste in general and to actively engage in recycling. The project received recognition at the highly prestigious International Visual Communication Association (IVCA) Clarion Awards, an award scheme to recognise outstanding, creative and effective communications. The awards which are also endorsed by Elliot Morley, MP Minister of State, Defra, included other category winners such as GlaxoSmithKline, McDonald’s, BP, BBC Radio4 and Billy Elliot – The Musical, all for the unique way in which corporate social responsibility and sustainable development issues have been featured in various forms of communications. This is the second time that Biffa Waste Service’s educational CD has achieved an IVCA award, having won a Silver award in April 2005 for ‘External Multimedia.’ Patrick Veasey, Managing Director of CWA commented, “We’re all delighted.
